Welcome to Implementing Integrity Management. This site provides information about the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration's Rules on Pipeline Integrity Management in High Consequence Areas for Hazardous Liquid Operators (49 CFR Part 195). These rules, effective May 29, 2001, and February 15, 2002, specify regulations to assess, evaluate, repair and validate through comprehensive analysis the integrity of hazardous liquid pipeline segments that, in the event of a leak or failure, could affect populated areas, areas unusually sensitive to environmental damage and commercially navigable waterways.
This web site provides information on the basic steps required for operator compliance with the requirements to establish an Integrity Management Program. It also contains several useful resources, such as the rules and preamble text, a glossary of terminology, and a fact sheet summarizing the key requirements. This site is highly interconnected to assist users in locating information on a particular subject.
Implementation of these rules sometimes results in identifying new issues or generating additional useful information. This site is updated as necessary to reflect these developments.
